Details
Convert to Vite build; update deploy to build dist 
- Add Vite entry (src/main.js), package.json, vite.config.js (relative base)
- Convert data/, js/app.js to ES modules; keep inline handlers working
- Update tools to ES imports; add validate:macros script
- Deploy workflow now installs deps, builds dist/, deploys dist contents
- Ignore node_modules/ and dist/

Recipe & Meal Planner

A client-side web application for meal planning, recipe management, and shopping list generation.

Features

  • Recipe Library: Browse and view detailed recipes with ingredients, instructions, and nutritional information
  • 2-Week Meal Planning: Plan meals for two weeks with a visual calendar interface
  • Macro Tracking: Automatically calculate weekly macros based on selected meals
  • Shopping List: Generate categorized shopping lists from your meal plans
  • Local Storage: All data is saved locally in your browser

Usage

Development

npm install
npm run dev

Then open the local URL Vite prints (default http://localhost:5173).

Production build

npm run build
npm run preview

Tools

  • npm run validate:macros — compare derived vs. hand-entered macros
  • node tools/import-recipe.mjs --url <url>|--file <path> — import a recipe

Browser storage

All app data (meals, shopping list, staples, targets) is stored in your browser's localStorage.

Recipe Data

Recipes are stored in data/recipes.js with the following information:

  • Ingredients with quantities
  • Step-by-step instructions
  • Nutritional information (calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber)
  • Prep and cook times

Adding New Recipes

To add new recipes, edit the data/recipes.js file and follow the existing recipe format.

Future Features

  • Web scraping for importing recipes from URLs
  • Export meal plans and shopping lists
  • More detailed macro tracking
  • Recipe search and filtering
